The 45 version is a remix and has the harmony.

pulled out a promo 45 of "mind" on white reprise label and both sides stereo/mono were solo vocal, no background... i wonder if the commercial 45 is the harmony vocal mix...

Yes, it is the commercial 45 that has the harmony vocals and this is the version that "Gord's Gold" features.

Really? Were there two 45 mixes? I picked up a stock copy of the 45, and it contains the same single vocal mix heard on the album version. The only place I can find multi-tracked vocals is on Gord's Gold. Gord's Gold also sound like a different reverb unit was used. Was the mono dj 45 different with those extra vocals? Is there a second 45 stock mix? I am comparing with an original Reprise stock 45 and it does not match Gord's Gold. My Reprise stock single matches the typical single voice version heard on most CDs.

There are 45s that have the harmony vocals added.

For those of us that would like to obtain both versions of this song can you please pass along the matrix number of the version with the double tracked vocals? My dry version has matrix number M 17780 S 1A.

I've always been under the assumption that the entire Gord's Gold album contained remixed/new versions of songs, not their original single/album versions.
Live in stereo.

Brian, my stock copy is stereo.

Ditto for at least the '70s-era Back To Back Hits reissue on Reprise (GRE 0744.) Its flip side, "Me And Bobby McGee," which was the first single issued from the Sit Down Young Stranger LP, is in mono.
