Yeah, since I missed this anomoly the one time I checked, now I'm purposely not going to go back to try to hear it. This way I can always enjoy it (hopefully). Reminds me a bit of the more obviously edited "While You See a Chance". When that was a hit, there never sounded like anything was wrong with it. Once the CD era hit and I always heard the long version, going back to the single edit is EXCRUCIATING on my ears at that edit point! Same thing with the single version of Aerosmith's "Dream On."

Does anyone have a low-res sample of the "Dream On" single? I'm not sure I've ever heard it.

**** Actually I was able to hear the Aerosmith edit. I am sitting here with my jaw gaping open and smoke coming out of my ears (the same look I would get if somebody just ruined my favourite record). I cannot believe for the life of me that CBS records would let an edit like that be serviced to radio. That was a terrible job. Winwood and Meat Loaf's "Paradise..." are right up there. ****

Yeah, it's a pretty obvious edit on "Dream On," and it's also a remix (not just a straight edit of the LP version).

Ever the contrarian, but I've always preferred the edit.
To my ears the "I know, nobody knows" verse sounds tacked
on, much like the bridge on "Crimson & Clover".

Gotta agree on the Meatloaf song though...

Really? Even factoring the speed bump at 1:06? Holy crap...lol. Now, did you grow up with that song on the radio in 1972 or 1973? I only ask because you may have heard that version more often and become used to it. Whereas, I was only two or three when it charted as a single.

Bumping this thread up. I'm amazed so many people thought this was a splice. That's just Benjamin doing a trill on the word "you". He sang it the same way live, just not as strongly as he did it in the studio.
