Hadn't seen any postings about this, so I might as well ask. Much of Bob Seger's catalogue is only available in their LP versions (including cases where the 45 and LP are identical). As far as I know, only "Night Moves" was issued on CD in its 45 mix/edit (on the FM soundtrack).
I was able to create an edit of "We've Got Tonight," but I'm not sure if I nailed it (I know what the time should be, but I'm not totally sure where the edit exactly comes in). And I'm not sure if I've ever heard the 45 of "You'll Accomp'ny Me." I'm pretty sure that you can't quite edit "Against The Wind" from the LP to get the 45 (I think there's one either overdub or extra note right at the first edit, although you can make the edits at the end pretty easily). Anyone able to fill in the blanks? Edited by sriv94 |

The edit for "We've Got Tonite" (which is the original spelling on the
45), it occurs at approximately the 3:06.5 mark, on the beat between the penultimate and last lines. From there, edit out everything until the last :28. The edit for "You'll Accomp'ny Me" occurs about two-thirds of the way through. At the part of the LP version where the chorus is repeated three times before the final vamp-out, edit out the second chorus where Bob sings "Out where the river meets the sounding sea." You're right about "Against The Wind" not being simply edited to get the 45 version. On the 45 version, the instrumental break is edited out, but on the LP version, the last note of the guitar overlaps the beginning of Bob's singing. That note is not on the 45. |

Question about the dj45 of "Even Now" -- was it edited or simply faded earlier?

OK, quick question. Does the line "someday, lady, you'll accomp'ny me, you will accompany me" remain on the single version, or is that edited out? I created an edit that keeps most of that first chorus, then jumps to that line before it goes to the final minute-long vamp out. (That chorus is only sung twice, which threw me for a moment.) OK, slow response. Yes, that line remains, and should appear
approximately at the 2:28 mark. Edited by Paul Esch |

Just noticed that "Rock And Roll Never Forgets" is listed as LP Length. Does anyone have the proper beginning/ending fade points for the 45 length?

Here's another one about a lesser Seger hit--any way to replicate the 45 of "Katmandu" from the LP (I see a listed time on e-Bay of (3:12) for a 45, while the LP version runs (6:09))?

To 'sriv94':
Yes, I have edited the CD to create the 45 version (but with a slightly longer & less abrupt fade). There are quite a few edits; PM me if you would like to hear it. Andy |
