Hi everyone,

Anyone out there know of any stereo source of "Fool On
The Hill" that is not encoded with the Haeco-CSG
system?

I seem to recall the original vinyl LP was CSG encoded
and every subsequent compilation contained this murky
stereo version.

If no one knows of a domestic or import source of this
hit, has anyone out there used software to simulate
the removal of the phase errors the CSG system
introduces?

Thank you!

Andy

MixerRog on the Both Sides Now board has removed CGS
from a number of tracks. He did give me the song to give
you. I'll send it to you to check it out.

If you get the Audacity program and also download the
free PhaseBug VST plug-in for it, you can remove all CSG
processing by rotating the left or right channel by plus
or minus 90
degrees (typically).

This is what the results will sound like when you remove
the processing:

I went to youtube and listened to the "Processing
removed" track. Then I went to a couple other places
and listened to ones that were dubbed direct from the
vinyl.

Am I so untrained that I don't particularly hear
distortion or "Muddiness" in the other tracks?

What I did seem to perceive was a change in position
for instruments and vocals. As a Beatles and Mendes
fan, I have become accustomed to hearing, (Or, in this
case not hearing much in the middle.)

Sort of like a dead zone in the middle of the
channels. Is this what the Haeco-CSG processing was
all about? The "Process removed" version seems to have
more going on in the middle. Especially, the female
lead sounds more in the middle.

Yes, AdvprosD, that is what I meant by
"murky" or "muddy" - as in
"not clear or not focused".

The center-channel info in a Haeco-CSG
processesed
stereo track is partially out-of-phase
and annoyingly
out-of-focus.
