This song peaked at #14 in 1975 on ABC Records, but it's WAY off the radar of the oldies radio world. I'd never heard it before I started digging into the 1975 hits.

I found a file on the hard drive that seems to be from the Collector's Choice 2-fer Stacked Deck/Too Stuffed To Jump, but can't confirm. Regardless of the source, the file is taken from vinyl, with no noise reduction. There's a digital clone on Eric's Hard To Find 45s On CD Pop & Country (2002), which is about 3 dB louder and adds noise reduction - avoid.

There's a different analog transfer on Time-Life's 2-CD Singers And Songwriters Vol. 3 1974-1975 (1999), which is also taken from vinyl.

Of the three that I listed above, the CC 2-fer sounds best.

Are there any CDs out there from a tape source?
There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

Thanks to Jim, I can confirm that the Varese Their Very Best (2009) is indeed from a tape source, and sounds WAY better than the three files I had.

I still can't confirm that the file I found is from the 2-fer, but I own the Eric and T-L discs, and those two are definitely from vinyl.

I've never been happy with how this sounded on the Eric Hard To Find... CD. Would love to hear a better copy!

Strange about the Eric CD being from vinyl, because the
digital source was provided by Sony. However I never heard
the source in its raw state.
Sorry about the NR .. I had no say in that. :-(

Thanks to John, I can confirm that the file I have is indeed from the Collectors' Choice 2-fer. My comments above are correct.

Sounds like Sony provided the same source material to both Collectors' Choice and to Eric.

No worries about the NR, Mark. We all look forward to Vol. 17 of the Hard To Find series, which we know will be NR-free!
