Jim was helpful once again in reporting to me that his commercial 45 copy of Aretha Franklin's "Day Dreaming" has an actual run time of 2:46 (the printed time on the record label is 2:45). The only reason I post this is because, to date, both database CD entries with a "45 version" comment clock in :03 shorter.

This is purely a personal observation, and I don't have any
of the listed '45 versions' for reference. But, having stumbled on a dub of a scratchy 45, the fade at the very end of the song has a longer fade than you could create with the LP version. Has anyone been able to replicate the 45's fade? Edited by eriejwg |

All I have is the 45 version on the Rhino Billboard Hot Soul Hits - 1972 disc. That's good enough for me. If you need a copy for reference hit me up.

Thanks for the file for reference. As I suspected, the fade
point on that '45 version' actually starts sooner than it does on the actual 45. |

The DJ 45 on this title is... rather interesting. The actual times on my copy are (2:46) on the mono side and (2:42) on the stereo side. The stereo side runs at a slower speed, at least to begin with. Just before the :28 mark, there's a strange, slight edit on the mono side, during the ascending run-up to the beginning of the vocal. It sounds like a mistake, more than anything else, particularly since the same edit does not appear on the stereo side. Between the speed differences and the editing glitch, the mono vocal comes in approximately 0.78 second sooner than it does on the stereo side.
But over the course of the record, the stereo side picks up speed, to the point where the two sync up at the 2:35 mark, and the stereo side ends up winning the speed race by a nose or two... until it dumps out rather abruptly at 2:42, with a bit of a "clunk" as the trail-out groove immediately kicks in. The mono side continues on until 2:46. Edited by Yah Shure |

It's possible that the '45 versions' listed in the database
match the stereo side of the promo 45 then. Whereas, the mono side of the promo 45 matches the commercial 45. Jim, can you confirm that your commercial 45 matches John's promo 45 at the :28 mark? |

We never got back to this one - seems the 2:46 mono 45 is MIA.
Anyone have a dub or can make one? |
