Although peaking at #43 early on 1986. Earliest memories of this cut being in heavy
rotation on my local AC station from the early to mid 90's.

I have a version on TM Century GoldDisc which I'm assuming is the 45 version. Can the
LP be edited down to the 45 version?

You can't recreate the 45 version by editing the LP due to
the intro section being mixed differently for the 45. I
ended up using the intro from a needle drop of the 45 and
splicing that into the correct point of the track from The
Broadway Album CD to get the true 45 version (mostly) from
a CD source.

Thanks for sorting it out for me, Roscoe. I'm quite certain the version I have on TM GoldDisc is the 45 version, although it sounds like it's from a tape source. Do you know where the splice occurs? I want to reexamine it to see if the TM folks did the same thing.

To me, it sounds like the uniquely mixed intro lasts
about 9 seconds on the 45 and segues into the LP mix at
about the :33 second mark of the LP version. Hard to
tell the exact point because there is no beat or rhythm
track, but it's around the point of her wordless vocal
("wha" or "where"?) at :33. In other words, the first
:33 seconds of the LP version are removed and replaced
with the 9 second intro unique to the 45.

Yes -- The first 9 seconds are unique on the 45. I did get to
listen to a vinyl dub of the 45 provided by Chuck. I compared it to
my copy on GoldDisc. They stay in sync for most part. I still don't
detect any vinyl from my copy. My ears could be fooling me, or the
splicing may have been dead on.
