I am trying to track down a copy of the 'Radio Mix' of this song, running 4:17 for my collection. I noticed the one entry listed in the database as a 'neither' runs 4:16.

Is it possible this version is actually the radio mix?

Yes, Bad Boy's Greatest Hits Vol. 1 (edited version) contains the Radio Mix.

is the 'radio mix' actually a different mix of the song or just an edit of the censored LP version?

Good question. I don't have the censored LP version to compare, so I can't
say for sure.

At least a couple of the other Puff Daddy hits from this time period had
different radio mixes from the censored LP versions. For example, "Mo
Money Mo Problems" is a slightly different mix for the Radio Mix. Also "Feels
So Good" by Mase was edited differently on the Radio Mix than on the
censored LP.

I've recently acquired a clean/censored pressing of Puff Daddy & the Family's No Way Out CD on Bad Boy 73014 and on it I can confirm that "It's All About the Benjamins" is simply the album version with censored lyrics. The album version is very noticeably different from the single version, a.k.a. "Shot Caller Rock Remix". The latter as one might expect is electric guitar heavy from the get-go. Meanwhile, the album version does not contain most of the featured artists appearing on the single version. With all this in mind, I would contend that all database entries with a "censored version" or "uncensored version" comment should probably be modified to read "censored LP version" and "uncensored LP version", respectively.

Now, I haven't heard either of the database CDs with the "rock remix", but this would almost certainly appear to be the single version. Can anyone verify? If so, then it would really be more accurate to have the "rock remix" comments revised as "45 version".

Todd, I believe you are correct. The only commercially released version of "Benjamins" on CD or 12" single was the "Rock Remix," which debuted on the Hot 100 on 12/6/97. The original "Radio Mix" that I reference above came out promotionally several months earlier, sometime around June or July 1998. I don't remember hearing the "Rock Remix" on the radio, but there was a separate music video for it. I do, however, recall rhythmic and urban stations playing the original "Radio Mix" the summer of 1998. At the time, Billboard wasn't allowing album cuts to chart on the Hot 100.

When the CD single was first released, "Benjamins" was finally allowed to chart, and I would guess that all of the airplay points for both versions were attributed to this CD single. Then, about a month later, "Been Around The World" made it's Hot 100 debut on 1/17/98.

Technically speaking, the "Rock Remix" was the "45 version," given that it was the only commercially released version; however, radio stations in my area only played the original "Radio Mix." I never heard it on pop radio in my area at all.

Thanks for clarifying the background info regarding the "Radio Mix", Aaron. I guess we still don't know if it's an edit of the censored LP version or a different mix, but we can at least confirm it's not an edit of the 45 version.

Based on my research, there was at least one promo CD single release on Bad Boy BBPCD-9103 with the following track listing and reported run times:

1) Radio Mix - 4:18
2) Instrumental - 4:40

Aaron, do you (or anyone else) happen to have a copy of this DJ CD single who can pass along the actual run time info?

Hey Todd, yes, I have this promo CD, and I'm sending you the "Radio Mix" to compare with your censored LP version.

The actual run times are 4:17 & 4:38.
