Can the 45 be created from the LP version?

Not quite, no. As I just emailed Ed (who provided me with the 45 copy), there's one extra line before the end of the fade on the single. The album version ends with, "Oh, what a fee--li-in..." The single continues one more line, lasting about four seconds: "... when we're dancing on the ceiling."

In addition, even if you shave off the crowd noise from the opening of the album version, one little faint "whoo!" in the left channel overlaps the first couple of drumbeats. That is not present on the 45 at all.

What is the run time for the 45 of Dancing On The Ceiling?

I found an interesting oddity. From the descriptions
above the LP version has the same vocals at the end as
the 45, but fades a tad earlier.

But I just happened to be on Google Play and I listened
to the end of the song in the digital album. In the
digital version the end vocals are different. The intro
is the same with the crowd noise overlapping the first
few beats BUT the last 10-15 secs contain vocals I only
ever heard in the 12" single version. The last line heard
is "we're gonna dance all night!"

So I checked each digital version on the assorted "hits"
comps by him. All the digital hits comps that the
database lists as the CD having the "LP version" contain
this alternate ending version online.

The digital version of "Definitive Collection" has the
mix described above.

This is fascinating to me because I can't think of a
logical reason for this alternate version to exist and
why it became the online album version. Very odd.
