What is the diff in the lp and 45 version and is the single version available on CD anywhere?

Well, I can say that I downloaded the song from a P2P service YEARS ago. And it was the same as my 45-rpm disc. The downloaded sounded clean, like a CD. So I would think it has to be somewhere.

The mono 45 has a ton more reverb added, evident right at the start.

I must admit I've never come across a mono pressing of this song. My copy on 45 is a stereo pressing from Capitol.

I know that in the '69-'71 time period, Canada 45s were on occasion
different from their US counterparts in terms of mono/stereo. Jody, is your copy Canadian? |

Yes sir, it is! Though I would've thought we'd take the lead from the US in most cases. Is Bill's copy a promo by chance?

Yes mine is a promo but it only has a "P" designation on the label, not a (PRO) designation and number, meaning that it should match the US stock 45.

Indeed it does match, Bill. My U.S. stock 45 is mono and is similarly "Dexterized."

Good to know, Jody, thanks. I have this in mono on a promo compilation, but it sounds like it could be a disc dub to me. I hear near crackles, but I hear distortion, and the whole thing is rather tinny sounding. |
