promo CD single? Currently, the database shows a
"neither the 45 nor LP version" comment for this entry.

Does anyone have this vinyl LP pressing of Rhythm
Nation 1814
? I think the "LP version" might actually
reflect precisely that, the vinyl LP, in contrast to the
CD. On a Discogs rabbithole today, I noticed that the
vinyl pressing lists "Rhythm Nation" as 4:38, about a
minute shorter than the CD version. This was a long
album to put on vinyl, more than an hour, so it wouldn't
surprise me if they shaved parts down for a better fit on
a single LP.

More on this: looks like there are about three impacted
tracks:
Rhythm Nation (4:38 listed on LP vs. 5:31 on CD)
Miss You Much (3:53 vs. 4:12)
Alright (5:27 vs. 6:26)

Same with State of the World Today. The LP version has an edit similar to the A&M radio promo CD track we received at our station. The CD has a longer version however.

Yes I have the original LP from 1989 and those tracks as well as State of the World are shorter than the CD and Cassette releases. The LP Edit of Miss You Much was the commerical single version in the US and UK and the LP Edit of State of the World is the same as the edit on the US promo CD and the version I heard played on US radio stations that were available in the UK at the time.
The new vinyl reissue of Rhythm Nation 1814 released in 2019 doesn't have these shorter edits on the UK pressing, I'm not sure if it's the case for other countries releases though.
