There has been a lot of discussion on other chat boards about whether there is a different vocal take involved in the mono and stereo versions of I Got You Babe by Sonny & Cher. So I just thought I would toss this out to our forum members for your opinion. For those that have both versions, I would appreciate your opinion.

good idea, Pat. well, i just took some time to a/b them and I believe they are the same vocal take. The mix makes them sound a bit different at times, but my vote is the same. If someone disagrees, please point me to any differences!

I just now got around to performing a precise A/B comparison between the mono and stereo mixes of Sonny & Cher's "I Got You Babe" and I've come to the conclusion that both contain the exact same vocal take. I did not detect any vocal differences or nuances of any sort between the two mixes.

Just a quick update on the mono vs stereo version of "I Got You Babe". Varese Sarabande just released today the soundtrack to "Good Times" which includes the soundtrack version of "I Got You Babe" in mono which is obviously not the hit version but they do include as a bonus track a mono copy of "I Got You Babe" which is the hit version but on the packaging below the song title are the words "original mono hit single version" which could mean one of two things: either there was a different stereo hit version or it was just a reference to the fact that the soundtrack version was not really the hit version.

Hi Pat - yes the indicator means the soundtrack version is
not the hit. On the soundtrack it is a soft acoustic
guitar version. The LP also contained an instrumental
version that also completely different than the hit.
Varese added the hit single version as a bonus track.
