The actual commercial 45 run time for the Four Tops' "When She Was My Girl" is 3:24, not 3:25 as stated on the record label. (These timings are courtesy of abagon.) The only reason I post this information is because the song's CD appearances in the database run 3:18-3:24 with only one disc containing the full 3:24 length.

The version on Razor & Tie's Back To The '80s (1994) has an extra note at the beginning of the intro; all others that I have begin on a true downbeat.
This is odd. Did the album version track from the previous song? FYI: The best-sounding version I have for this song is on Time-Life's Solid Gold Soul - Early '80s (1999, Vol. 25 in the series), which is a differently-EQ'd digital clone of Rhino's Billboard Hot R&B Hits - 1981 (1996). Both sound great. Down a notch in sound quality is Rhino's Video Soul Vol. 2 (1995), and Time-Life's Sounds Of The Eighties - 1981 (1995 - sounds extremely close to Video Soul but not digital clone). Even farther down the chain are Razor & Tie's Back To The '80s (1994 - too loud and clips a bit) and UK's Now That's What I Call Music - The Millennium Series - 1981 (1999 - has extra compression). |
