My commercial 45 has a listed time of (3:33), but an actual time of (3:29).

How does the 45 (which is not listed as available) differ from the lp version?

I know the 45 is sped up vs. the LP and there are some
edits. I made a recreation several years ago but didn't save my notes. I can send you an MP3 to compare. |

My promo copy of Right Down The Line has the full length album version on one side and an edited version on the flip. Both sides are stereo and the edited version has the intro shortened by :16 seconds and about :27 seconds is cut from the guitar break. The 45 is sped up a tad compared to the album version.

My editing notes were based on the 1988 U.S. City To City EMI CD (CDP 7 46049 2) which was mastered at the sped-up United Artists vinyl LP speed. And even then, the UA 45 runs faster.
1. Delete the 14.517-second portion between 00:07.415 and 00:21.933. 2. Delete the 14.448-second segment between 2:19.604 and 2:34.052. 3. Fade ending (linear, with only a little easing out toward the end) from 3:24.621 to out at 3:33.117, a total of 8.496 seconds (the tail end of the fade will dump out fairly quickly.) 4. Speed up resulting file to a final length of 3:30.005. 5. High altitude instructions: omit helium. Bake as directed. |
