Timing in the Hot 100 Annual and on a 45 face I found on the Internet shows 2:18 but the sole database appearance runs 2:28. Anyone have the 45 to check this?

David, my yellow vinyl DJ 45 shows (2:18) on both sides, with an actual running time of (2:17.) The fade begins at 2:10, ending at 2:16.974.
Upon further review, the CD version runs both longer and at a noticeably slower pitch than the 45. At the key change at the very end of the song, Andy sings "'cause we're wrong for... each other, wrong for.." etc. The 45 fade begins at the third word "wrong," ending after the fourth "wrong for." The CD begins to fade on the fourth "wrong," ending after the sixth "wrong for." If you were match the 45's fade points, then speed it up to match the 45's run time, you'd have the 45 version. The mixes appear to be the same when folded to mono. Edited by Yah Shure |

my commercial 45 issued as columbia 43015 lists the run
time on the label as 2:18 but runs 2:17...you'll need to pitch up the 2:28 'complete columbia chart singles collection' cd version and then fade out for 0:08 from 2:09 to 2:17 to effectively re-create the vinyl 45 version... |
