My commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (3:36), but an actual time of (3:39).

I have no idea why this song just popped into my head. But I am
wondering. It was a hit in 1974, and featured a censored lyric voicing, shall we say, Watergate-era displeasure with then-President Nixon ("Tricky Dick, stop your sh**BLEEP".) All stock and promo 45s that I own are censored. And although I don't own his 1974 LP, "Out Here On My Own", according to Pat's db, the version on it runs well over 4:00. I just located/watched a YouTube video that roughly matches the time of the LP version, and the lyric in question was censored on there as well. All that said, #1, has anyone ever heard the song without the lyric uncensored? Or #2, know if it ever appeared uncensored on an import CD? The only current db CD that includes the song's LP version is not a re-issue of the original LP, but rather a later compilation. But I assume it is also censored, based on Pat's db notation for it, and based on what I just heard on-line. I realize this is a long shot. At least the question has now been asked, and has been officially entered into the Downey Board's query archives. :) Edited by jimct |
