My commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (2:55), but an actual time of (2:51).

jrjr:
Contrary to popular belief, record companies typically don't listen to a 45, time it, and then print the run time on its label face. If I'm not mistaken, labels and artwork are usually printed and designed even before the actual 45 is manufactured. That said, the run time information that was initially supplied to the folks who print the 45 labels often turned out different by the time the audio engineer had finished editing and fading out the actual production master. Hence, the frequent discrepencies between the printed and actual run times. Edited by Todd Ireland |
