Haircut One Hundred-"Love Plus One"

Terrific info., Jim! It's always great to uncover a 45 version or a DJ 45 edit not accounted for in the database, but it's an added bonus when someone is able to go one step further and identify the origin of a version listed in the database as: (neither the 45 or the LP version). Nice work!

The "Love Plus One" 45 version has a looped ending that fades; the LP version draws to a dirge-like close. (At least that's what the US 45 does; don't know what the UK 45 has.) Both are about the same length.

The 45 version of "Love Plus One", with the looped ending, is found on:

• Sony's Get Into The Greed (1994; digitally identical to Just Can't Get Enough)
• Warner Special Products' Eighteen Modern Rock Classics (1996; digitally exactly 2.8 dB quieter than Just Can't Get Enough)
• Universal's Retro Lunchbox Squeeze The Cheeze (1997; digitally exactly 3.36 dB quieter than Just Can't Get Enough)
• EMI Australia's 5-CD Eighties Complete Vol. 2 (1999; sounds extremely muffled; avoid)
• Rhino's Millennium New Wave Party (1999; digital clone of Just Can't Get Enough)
• Rhino's 7-CD Like Omigod (2002; uses same analog transfer as Just Can't Get Enough)

The LP version of "Love Plus One", with the dirge-like ending, is found on:

• the US Arista pressing of Pelican West (I don't own this anymore, but it sounded terrific)
• Priority's Rock Of The '80s Vol. 1 (1990; likely based on US Pelican West mastering; bottom half of waveform in L channel clips around -3 dB)
• Arista Germany's Pelican West Plus (1992; has bonus tracks, but sounds truly horrendous with extremely high-generation source tapes; avoid)
• Sony Germany's 2-CD Pop And Wave Vol. 3 (1993; digital clone of Pelican West Plus but with an edit at 2:48 and early fade starting at 3:11; bad sound AND an early fade - avoid at all costs)
• Simitar's Number Ones Eighties Rock (1998; seems to be based on US Pelican West; sounds great here)
• Time-Life's 2-CD Modern Rock Vol. 1 1982-1983 (1999; also seems to be based on US Pelican West but the waveform peaks aren't as pronounced as the Simitar disc)

The 5:37 promo 12 inch single version is listed as "Full Version" on EMI's Living In Oblivion Vol. 2 (1993), and is also found on SPG's Classic Alternative Vol. 1 (1994). Both sound fine.

Haircut 100's follow-up single to "Love Plus One", "Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)", has two different mixes as well, but I don't own it on vinyl so I can't confirm which is which.

One "Favourite Shirts" mix, which has the opening guitar riff panned way to the left and has a ride cymbal in the break, is on Pelican West Plus (sounds bad) and on Sony's This Ain't No Disco (sounds good - probably based on US Pelican West). This is probably the LP mix.

The other "Favourite Shirts" mix, which centers the opening guitar riff and has a hi-hat throughout the break with no ride cymbal, is on Just Can't Get Enough (sounds great) and Time-Life's Modern Rock Vol. 8 Early '80s (digitally exactly 1 dB quieter than JCGE). This is probably the US 45 mix. Not sure what was on the UK 45.
