Margo died on Jan. 23.
https://musicrow.com/2024/01/country-star-margo-smith-passes / Varese released a great package of her Warner Brothers singles in 2015. Margo's 20th Century recordings have not been issued on CD. https://www.discogs.com/release/10041649-Margo-Smith-The- Very-Best-Of-Margo-Smith Edited by CountryPD |

Thanks so much for posting this. I hadn't heard this
news. She was very popular from 1975-79 in country music circles. Her voice was kind of odd to me but in an interesting way. :) |

I agree that she did have an unusual voice. Thought that her vocals had a little girl quality similar to Dolly Parton. Had the chance to meet her and see her in concert several times in the 1970's. She was extremely nice. The audience especially loved it when she did yodeling songs. Her most successful records were remakes of pop hits. They were consecutive singles in 1978 - Don't Break The Heart That Loves You (Connie Francis) It Only Hurts For A Little While (Ames Brothers) and Little Things Mean A Lot (Kitty Kallen) She did return to a more traditional country style with this #13 single hit in 1980: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqVHfEOHh1M |
