The actual commercial 45 run time of The Cowsills "The Rain, the Park & Other Things" is 3:00, not 2:57 as stated on the record label. (Thanks to Jim for relaying the timing info.) Currently, database CD entries containing the 45 version run 2:54-2:59.

This song is available on the 45s on CD series from the original Mono single master tape mixed by Brooks Arthur. Some comps have it in Stereo. |

Is it this one or "Indian Lake" that appear on both the black MGM label along with the blue and gold label?
Not sure when the labels changed their logos. This one is in mono on the Millenium Masters disc. |

i just a/b'ed the vinyl 45 and the version from the cd
below (S) (3:00) &nb sp; Rebound 314520204 Best Of (LP version) and aside from the obvious mono/stereo differences, they sound pretty much the same......can someone point out what specifically is different about them? |

If it's helpful, i did a careful comparison between the 2 versions a few years back, because a friend was sure he was hearing some element in the mono he wasn't hearing in the stereo. I had to admit, the mono sounded very different to me. It turned out after a synch-test, they both share all the same elements. The big difference i heard was EQ. The stereo version is very "flat" and mid-rangy. The mono mix sounded very dry and bassy, with the drums and bass guitar louder in the mix than in the stereo. And the vocals seem much drier in the mono mix. In this case, i found great improvement in the stereo by EQ-ing it more like the 45. MM |

I hear drums on the 45 at the 1:15 mark that I do not hear on the stereo LP version.

The drums are there in the stereo mix but are buried VERY deeply in the mix.
