Did "The Killing Of Georgie" by Rod Stewart ever get edited down for a promo 45 release? It's awfully long for stations to have played the entire song when it was hit.

I have 100% agreed with Aaron's premise, word for word, for many years now. But it was popular two months before I started at the station, so I have no personal inside info here. All I can say is that I've been unsuccessfully hunting for a shorter promo 45, that may have included just (Part I), for many moons now, with absolutely no luck. The only promo 45 I've EVER seen/owned is the combination (Part I And II) version, with a listed time of (6:31) and an actual time of (6:29), for both its mono and stereo sides. I have NEVER seen any evidence that WB ever issued ANY "break up the parts, shorter" version for this, back in 1977. I did hear it played briefly on one of my local Top 40 stations, and it appears that they probably just chose to fade the song at (4:27). This also sounds to me as the logical separation point between the two "parts", if I were to hazard a guess. Anyone having any additional information/details to share here would be appreciated.
