I would like to get opinions here as to what you feel
would be the correct artist assignment for the song
"Mockingbird" by Inez Fox. The DJ 45's were issued
with no mention of Charlie Foxx and many of the
commercial 45's listed simply Inez Fox but later
pressings state "Inez Foxx" and below the comment
"accompaniment by Charlie Foxx". Yet to this day most
industry professionals say "Inez & Charlie Foxx".
Personally my vote is to not include Charlie Fox in
the artist credit as "accompaniment by anyone" does
not merit official artist credit. The new "Hard To
Find Jukebox Classics - stereo explosion Volume 4"
does give artist credit to Inez & Charlie Foxx. So
what is your vote on this issue?

In my record store, we filed them as a duo, 'Charlie & Inez Foxx'. I saw some imports come in as 'Inez &
Charlie Foxx', but I didn't think it had the same ring to it, if you know what I mean. -Bill.

Charlie Fox".

My copy must be a later pressing because it includes
"accompaniment by Charlie Foxx".
ISTR both artists being mentioned even back in 1963,
maybe not consistently but at least on some stations.

I'm curious as whether the other Hot 100 & Bubbling
Under charting hits of Inez (& Charlie) are actually
true duets like "Mockingbird" is.

If most of the other charters predominantly feature
Charlie, than I would consider them a real, regular
recording team and thusly 'Foxx, Inez & Charlie'.

Just my perspective; feel free to comment!

I should add that regarding the tray card credit on
"Stereo Explosion Vol 4" we only listed both of them
based on an internal vote. It was merely that we had all
seen them both credited in many places and we felt it
was quite obviously a duet.

But we certainly don't consider our CD tray card credit
to be "official" in any way.
My opinion is for the "official" credit, it should be
whatever is in the Whitburn books and that is Inez Foxx
alone, with brother Charlie only mentioned as a credit
below the title (like the later 45 pressings).

In my store they're filed as "Foxx, Inez and/or Charlie"

Calling records "vinyls" is like calling people "fleshes".
