One of two new songs recorded for and released as
singles from his "Greatest Hits" collection. The album
version clocked in at 4:39 with a single version at
3:59. Yet, his subsequent compilations that featured
this song included a 4:05 version.

* Was the original 3:59 version just an early fade of
the 4:39 version?
* Was the 3:59 version mis-timed and really is 4:05?
* Is the 4:05 version an attempt to re-create the
single edit?

My 45 runs 4:04, as the database shows, and is an early
fade of the LP. The "Box Set Series" matches 45 length and
fade.

Epic Legacy's 2001's single disc Very Best of has the
edit.

Thanks. I originally had "Greatest Hits" on vinyl and
replaced it with the 2001 "Very Best Of" to get his
later hits. Like most compilations, his always omitted
a few songs that could have made them definitive. For
example, "Very Best Of" excluded "The Power Of Gold"
from "Greatest Hits," but included many of his bigger
singles since the 1982 release of "GH."

The 2-Disc "Definitive Anthology" looks like it's pretty
good with most of his chart singles included. The Discogs
listing says it includes the Single Versions of "Make
Love Stay" and "Missing You". It doesn't include the
minor chart hit, "Go Down Easy" that I like, though.

That's what I mean! Along with "Go Down Easy," it's
missing the charted singles "Down the Road/Mountain
Pass" (# 33 Country) and "Anastasia's Eyes" (# 32 AC).

High Country Snows is pretty cheap on cd and has his
more country side.
