Just outside the top 40, a popular freestyle hit. Anyone know where to find the 45 version on CD and not the LP that seems to appear on numerous comps? Much appreciated.

It looks like the LP and 45 Versions run about the same time, so it may be harder to distinguish which version is which by the running times listed on the VA Comps on which it appears. I think I have the "Freestyle Explosion" comp that it appears on, so I'll check it when I get home tonight. The 45 is labelled as "New Mix", by the way.

They run about the same time, but the drum beat within the first 10 seconds in the new mix is very different then the LP version.

I checked "Freestyle Explosion Volume 4" and "Dreamin'" does appear to be the Album Version. I can definitely hear the difference in the drum beat on the New Mix and unfortunately it's not on the Freestyle CD.

I noticed when checking Discogs that the song appears on the VA Comp, "Pure 80's Dance". If anyone has that compilation, you might want to check it to see if it has the Single Version of "Dreamin'", as I can see by the listed running times that there are several Single Versions on the disc.

This song appears on the Club Epic, Volume 3 CD, runs
over five minutes and it's labeled "Manhattan Mix." Is
this the LP version, dance mix, single mix?

The Manhattan Mix is just another mix, most likely a dance mix. The single mix is like Dan said, labeled the new mix.

For what it's worth, the 7:40 "New Mix" is on the UK CD single for "Baby, I Love Your Way/Freebird" as track 3. This mix also does not match the 45 and therefore cannot be edited down to create the 7" version.

That's terrible news. I've searched on numerous Freestyle Comps and can say they all use the LP version...

Here's what I discovered about the 7" New Mix. This version is spliced together using 3 of the 4 mixes on the US 12" single.

0:00 to 0:15 uses the Instrumental Mix
0:15 to 2:54 uses the Manhattan Mix
3:09 to 3:32 uses the Dub Mix
3:32 to 4:09 uses the Manhattan Mix again

The segment from 0:15 to 2:54 can be found on the CD Club Epic Vol 3. This disc runs 5:13, however, and it's an early fade of the full 7:20 Manhattan Mix. As such, the segment of the 45 from 3:32 to 4:09 cannot be found on the CD, as the disc fades too soon.

That's a lot of work for a song that peaked at #50.
Good job!
