Apparently, this was just released within the past few
weeks. The description on Amazon states, "Disc One
(CD) includes all the singles released from 1983
through 1995 in chronological order (single
versions)". So I'm wondering if this means we'll
finally get the Single Versions of "Money Changes
Everything" (the Live Version) and "Change Of Heart"
along with the rare Single Edit of "Time After Time".
I know "She Bop" and "What's Going On" also have
Single Versions as well, but those are the only ones
with differences I know of offhand. It's pretty
expensive, as Amazon is selling it for over $50. Used
and new copies are currently going for under $40
(minus shipping). Just wondering if anyone here was
planning on getting it and if they could comment on
sound quality. And of course, let us know if the
versions on there truly are the Single Versions.
It also comes with a DVD of 26 of her Videos. It's
labeled on Amazon as Blu-Spec 2 Region Free.

I wish all members use the forum's tools for linking URLs, pix, etc.
These are all the songs that Cyndi released as singles alright, but these are not single versions.

How do you know? The running times aren't listed on
Amazon or on Discogs.
As far as using the forum's tools for linking, etc.
I'm new here and just learning things. The address I
provided can just as easily be copied and pasted into
a browser.

Just so everyone is aware, the software running this
forum is super old, and some browsers don't work the
same way others do. For example, I can't post a URL
from my iPhone. The forum software just won't allow it.
It inserts spaces in the URL, and the post ends up being
a mess. I'm hoping we can update/upgrade in the near
future, but for now, we get by as best as we can.

Don't change a thing. I love that this board is so old skool and runs
like it's 1997.

I certainly don't mind that it's "old skool," but I'm wondering if at some point the new/updated browsers may not play well with it. You can already tell when someone is using Chrome or Safari, as it inserts hard returns at random places in the message.

I did my research and spoke with a handful of folks. I trust them. The info is also out there, if you Google it.
Pretty much everybody is shocked at the end result, given that this is a Japanese release. The audio component doesn't even include "Hey Now (Girls Just Want To Have Fun)". Sigh, the search for the single version for "When You Were Mine" continues. Also, the video component does not include Part 2 of "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough". And I just realized that it doesn't include the worldwide hit "The World Is Stone". The success of this single is what made Cyndi return to the studio and record "Hatful Of Stars". It's an amazing song and it boggles the mind that Epic totally bypassed a U.S. release. Portrait / Epic simply didn't know what to do with Cyndi. Of course, Cyndi going completely uncommercial by her fifth album didn't help matters. I would love to finally see a commercial release of her third album, "Kindred Spirit".

Epic were just idiots. "When You Were Mine" should've been the second single, or at the very least it should've been released ahead of "All Through The Night" and "Money Changes Everything". It would've been easily a Top 10 hit. It's a shame that Epic didn't capitalize on Cyndi's performance at the AMA. Instead of following it up with a music video and a commercial release, the single never made it past the promo stage.
Without a doubt, Cyndi's cover is vastly superior to Prince's original, the definitive version. Cyndi's rendition keeps the song intact, without changing the pronouns. I was 7 years old when the song was first promoted and the lyrics didn't make sense to me. Lyrics such as "...you didn't have the decency to change the sheets..." didn't make any sense either. Was that code for something, I wondered?
A hit single that never was.

Hardly "random places", it just inserts a return where the
text wraps to the next line (at least with Chrome...I don't
do Apple so no experience with Safari). Not a big deal
IMHO.

Got my copy this week. No single mixes on this release. Big
disappointment.

There isn't an emoticon to give a thumbs up but I agree. The best attribute of the board is that its simple, not complicated and reminds me that as long as I know basic HTML like most people I can post to it lol.
What's funny is the very thing that attracts the spam bots to it like Aaron has said is the very thing that makes it so easy to post to. These days its all about attaching video and audio and images. This board just lets you post and that is that. Simple and not complex.
Its basically as easy as Google's 2000 search engine lol. When things werent so complex and they werent anticipating your choice of search query....

These Japan CD releases are not cheap so it's terrible when they do not deliver the single versions/edits that collectors would expect in a singles collection. Pretty sure someone posted on this board earlier this year that the Boz Scaggs singles collection also included several LP versions.
