Has the original version ever appeared on cd? I've seen shorter versions on
iTunes and Amazon Music running between 3:35-3:43 when the actually
runtime for the original is 4:06.

I'm pretty certain the original full length version appears on this comp:
20th Century Masters: Season's Greetings - The Millennium Collection.
I'll double check my copy shortly to confirm the run time.

I think I may also have it on A Rock N Roll Christmas II.

I have it on a Rhino Digital 45. You may want to see if
it's available still as mine runs 4:06.

That was a custom creation of mine, not a Rhino Digital 45. And, Aaron, yes, the version on that Millennium Christmas CD is the 45 version.

Thanks for info! Found the Millennium CD for $5 in VG condition or I could get
a new one for $10.....decisions decisions......LOL

I also found A Rock N Roll Christmas II but I've always liked the sound quality
of the Millennium releases. I do have several of them. The Rock N Roll looks
like it might not be that great sound wise.

The Season's Greetings compilation sounds great for "Christmas Time," and as Brian said, it runs 4:06.

As it turns out, I only have A Rock N Roll Christmas (Volume 1). These comps are on Polygram, so I would expect the sound quality to be okay.

Curiously, what's the difference between the original and
the shorter versions?
As I recall, the 45 had both a cold intro and ending.

Not sure, but I did find my Rock N Roll Christmas II comp, and I have
another 2-CD comp called Greatest Christmas Collection that has the
4:06 original version.

Hi,

I have an original promo CD which includes the track as well as the Japan Mini-LP SHM-CD of Reckless.

They both are approx 4:06 and have the cold intro and endings. They both sound excellent and can be cranked without any ill effect.

Spotify is the only place I could find the original 45 version.

What I have been told is that the shorter versions have several lyrics
removed/missing and it was re recorded.
