I may have found an LP / 45 version distinction that is
not noted in the database. I have "It Must Be Love" by
Madness on 2 CD's. The first is Just Can't Get Enough:
New Wave Hits of the '80s Volume 12 and the other is on
the import box set called A Guided Tour of Madness.
They have different mixes of the song, most easily
discernible at 0:33 where the piano plays only on the
offbeat on "Guided Tour" but plays on the off and on
beats on JCGE. I suspect the latter is a single mix.
The JCGE version also runs about 6 seconds longer. Can
someone who owns the 45 check to confirm?

On the US Geffen 45, that section ("As soon as I wake
up...") has piano chords on the upbeats and downbeats
(i.e., eighth-notes, assuming quarter note is about 70-80
bpm).

I don't have either CD you mention, but on the Geffen
Vintage 80s Vol 2
CD, that section sounds the same as
my 45.

Thanks Eric. I've been doing a little more
investigation and it seems we may have a US/UK mix
difference. "It Must Be Love" was originally a
standalone single in the UK, but it was issued in the
U.S. on the U.S.-only LP "Madness." I don't own the LP,
but perusing YouTube it appears to have the eighth-note
version, the same as the U.S. single. If you want to
hear the other version, just check out the "official"
video or what I think is the UK 45, both found on
YouTube. Not sure if any of the albums in the database
contain the UK version.
