Does anyone who still works in radio know of a "no rap" mix of "Dark
Horse"? I've heard a couple stations playing one, but I'm not sure if
they are in-house edits or not.

Don't know either, but Sirius XM's Hits 1 play one the
other day, too. But then, this is a common thing there.

I asked about this over in the Prime Cuts forum from TM on
Facebook. Hopefully, I'll have an answer if this is a
custom edit or a true label edit.

Aaron, I asked Jim from TMStudios and here is what he said
about a Katy only official label edit... "Not that the
record label has formally released. Someone asked me about
this last week so I asked our programmer. He has not not
seen or heard anything about this."

Ha, yes, it was me who asked Jim at TM last week. At least we now
have some idea that the edits might be in-house.

Sirius regularly removes rap parts from songs. I know they
also played a version of Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie"
without the Jay-Z rap.

Wonder if Bill Cahill could chime in on this?

That's odd, considering that they tend to leave semi-
questionable lyrics intact...my dentist uses various
Sirius
channels as background music and I once heard Katy's "Hot
And Cold" with the word "bitch" left in.
Dentist office music sure has changed in the last 30
years.

Is it available for download anywhere? Can't find it on
Rhapsody or iTunes.

If you or someone at your station has access to D M D S, it's on there. Please don't ask me for it as their files are digitally watermarked with the user's ID.

Is it easy to re-create this?

I don't think you can re-create it, there is a non rap
version for Hot AC stations that was made available, and it
sounds simply like the music with the rap removed. I don't
have a physical copy though.

What about the no Jeffrey Dahmer version I have been hearing on the radio?

I've come to the conclusion that there are multiple edits of "Dark Horse"
and I'm not sure if any of them originated from Capitol Records.
