Hey guys,
anyone ever able to locate the 7" remix of "there's the girl" with the added vocal parts on any import CD, maybe even a CD single? I at last located the 45 version of "I Want you So Bad" as the b-side of an import single of "Nothin at All", but "There's the Girl" has been extremely elusive.

ed,
can you list the tracks on that single? I have a Japanese 3" single with what's called the 12" remix, and it's not the same mix at all. I've seen a UK 4 track single that has the 12" remix and 7" remix, and I assumed the 7" was just and edit of that incorrect 12" version.

by the way, the 12" remix on my CD3 has been remixed to death, so bad the song loses all fluidity--and it runs a whopping 7:47. Yet it still doesn't have the extra vocal lines, including the "she's setting you up my friend" line.

I have a copy of the "There's the Girl" UK maxi-CD single (Capitol CL473). For what it's worth, the track listing and actual run times are as follows:
1) There's the Girl (12" Remix) - 7:20
2) Alone - 3:38
3) Bad Animals - 4:50
4) There's the Girl (7" Remix) - 3:42

It seems the version names have not been named correctly.
I too have the UK CD single and judging by the name of the two included remixes, one would think they are the same but different lenghts.
The 12" remix was heavily remixed by Tom Lord Alge (also worked on remixes for Madonna's "La Isla Bonita" and OMD's " Forever Live And Die").
The 7" remix found on the same CD single is simply the album version with the added vocals (the 45 version).
I guess they could have named it the 7" version to avoid confusion.
The true 7" remix (if we are strict about version names) can be found on Heart's Greatest Hits 1985-1995 compilation CD.
This version is an edit of the 12" remix found on the UK CD single, and to my knowledge it was not available on compact disc before this release.

Old thread but I was listening to the remix from the
Greatest Hits 1985-1995 CD and it's impossible to recreate
the 12", so not really an edit of it.

What do you base this on? I can't find anything to support that. Please elaborate if you are still around.
I always thought the Greatest Hits one was not the 45 or the LP. It just was a version that is out there.

A while back, I researched this one really extensively, tracking down
any 45 spins on Youtube I could find, and I never found anything
resembling the Greatest Hits 1985-1995 on vinyl. Every release I
could find bearing a "remix" tag and a 3:42-ish runtime plays the tame
and familiar US 45 mix with the extra lyrics. I have long assumed that
the GH 85-95 version was created as a single mix in '87 but
shelved in favor of the one that was released, and then probably
selected for the hits compilation in error.

Agreed. I've not heard a vinyl copy that matches the GH version. I have a dub of the US promo 45 on my hard drive, and it plays the 3:42 version.
As a side note, the UK CD single is definitely a second generation (or worse) source, as it has noticeable dropouts between 2:35 and 2:45.

I do hear what you are referring to. Dan provided me a copy. I'm honestly surprised at this!
