Granted, not a top-40 hit (only hitting 84 at Billboard), but a pretty darn good song. Looking at e-Bay, there's at least one 45 with a printed label time at (3:40). The LP version runs (4:45) or thereabouts. So is the 45 label time correct, and if so, can the 45 be extracted from the LP?

Yes it can, as far as my memory goes. I don't believe it was remixed in any way.

You don't happen to know where the edit(s) is/are, do you? I don't have the means to play vinyl, let alone the actual 45.

I can send you an mp3. My email address is in the directory. Let me know. My stock copy runs 3:32 but says 3:40. Don't know where the edits are.

I'm OK on this one, Bill (I was able to fetch one elsewhere). I'm always looking for other things, though, so perhaps next time around.

The "Vahevala" 45 is a remix. Generally speaking, the stereo is narrower.
There was also a glitch on both the promo and stock 45s. The left channel suffers from major tape flutter from :17 to :27.
Promo copies credited Ken Loggins, and the title was spelled "Vahevella."

Does the 45 fade or end cold?

In the other thread, I posted a link to the 45 on YouTube.
I seem to recall 4 edits. At the end, after the final edit
there is a portion that loops before it fades.
Having a 45 dub should help.

According to Whitburn, early commercial copies had the
title misspelling too (is "vahevalla" a real word?). Dunno
about the Ken vs Kenny.
Was gonna verify on my promo, but it seems to be misfiled.
