although not in the db because of it's low peak chart
position of #34 in 1967, my commercial 45 for the innocence
song "there's got to be a word!" issued as kama sutra 214
lists the run time as 2:15 but actually runs 2:24 and can
be found on the buddah box set....the 45 is mono while the
cd box set is in stereo...

Ed, you are correct in saying that the "45 version" of "There's Got To Be A
Word!" is on the 3-CD "Buddah Box". However, many years ago (1993), I
picked up a normally reliable Sequel-(UK) V/A import CD called "Mynd
Excursions - A Journey Through The Vaults Of Kama Sutra/Buddah". This
CD also included 5 other tracks by the Innocence, as well as other 60's
label rarities on CD that I wanted. Well, when I played it, to my total
shock, the version of "There's Got To Be A Word" on this import CD
actually bears very little resemblance to the U.S. 45 version at all. So I just
thought that, 1) Since this song was only a marginal BB Top 40 hit not
included in Pat's db, and 2) That this song isn't included on very many
CDs period (import or domestic) that I'd point this fact out. And since "The
Buddah Box" is long out-of-print, I thought other board members might
also own this same import disc, and think they're "all set" in regard to
having the US hit version of "...Word" on CD - they're not.

i searched for the "innocence" and found nothing that's why
i posted this.....but the filtering mechanism is poorly
crafted on this site.....because the original post started
as "innocence-" with a hyphen attached to innocence, it
didn't come up......go figure....thanks yah sure for the
link...

Ed: I did a phrase search for "there's got to be a word" instead and it came right up.

For anyone interested in tracking down the mono mix of The Innocence's "There's Got to Be a Word!", it can be found on the Sunshine Days - Pop Classics of the '60s Volume 2 various artists CD (Varese Sarabande 5802).
