I have what appears to be the 45 version on TM Century GoldDisc 131R, but it's
a vinyl dub with noise reduction. Do any of the '80's ears here have a
spectrum analysis on what CD version sounds the best. Do all commercial CD's
use vinyl dubs?

Oh, you really want to avoid the TM Century discs for
mid-'80s tracks. A lot of tracks from that time frame
are taken from vinyl and use really heavy noise
reduction.
The 45 edit first appeared on CD on EMI's Living In
Oblivion Vol. 3 (1994). There's a differently-EQ'd
digital clone on Time-Life's Sounds Of The Eighties
Vol 12 1985-1986 (1995). Both sound very nice.
There was a new analog transfer of the 45 edit on Rhino's
Just Can't Get Enough Vol. 15 (1995). There are
digital clones on Warner Special Products' Eighteen
Modern Rock Classics (1996; digitally exactly 1.6 dB
quieter), Universal's Retro Lunchbox: Squeeze The
Cheeze (1997; digitally exactly 3.16 dB quieter), and
Time-Life's 2-CD Modern Rock Vol. 21 Club '80s
(2001; different EQ). All of these sound very nice as
well.
Any of these will sound far, far better than the TM disc
for "Perfect Way".
