I seem to be finding a lot of 80s songs that hit in the mid-50s of the Hot 100 charts that at the time I thought were "power cuts." Herbie Hancock's "Rocket" was that way. This one is another perfect example.

Discogs is indicating the 45 / 7" single of Jody Watley's "Still A Thrill" was 4:12-ish. The album version (which appears on all of the greatest hits albums I've been able to find) is 4:42-ish.

I've found multiple YouTube videos of extended versions, remixes, and live versions... but no single edit.

Does anybody have this 45? If you do, could you verify the length? If it IS shorter than the album version, is it just a fade out at the end of the song? (The album version ends cold with "I'm going home now... where are my keys?" and a musical stinger / trail.)

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated... Even though it only made it to #56 on the Billboard Hot 100, it was #8 Hot Dance Club Play and #3 R&B in 1987.

(Also: anybody else think Jody sounds a little like Grace Jones on this song?) :)

Hate to bump and old thread, but for anyone wondering,
the 7" is an edit (about 20 seconds of the long
instrumental from @ 3:25-3:45) and is not an early fade.

I was wondering if anybody has a dub of the 45 to send
me? This would help me decide if I buy the 7" single or
simply edit down from the album version. Thanks!

My stock 45-rpm disc has the same version as the LP and the video. I've never heard any other mix to be honest.

bumping this one up again. Can anyone verify the track
time of the promo 7" single?   Discogs and the 45
label list the single edit at 4:12 but the single edit I
have from a recreation someone else did clocks in at 4:22.
Is this another instance where the label time is incorrect?

The label is wrong. Your time is correct.
