I saw in Pat's database that 4 Jennifer Warnes top 40 hits are listed as being on the Jennifer Warnes' CD "Platinum & Gold Collection". My understanding is that that CD was never officially released - that promo copies were pressed [for the US and possibly even Canada], but due to a technical problem with the CD (a song not sung by Jennifer on the CD), the CD never actually came out and was pulled before ever being commercially released. I know in 2004 (the CD's supposed release date) I was looking for the CD on amazon and ebay but could never find it then. I know in recent years those promo CDs have been floating around and selling on ebay and amazon for $60-$80, but I'd like to know: Does anyone know if this CD WAS ACTUALLY COMMERCIALLY RELEASED for a brief period before the release was pulled?
(And if this exists only as a promo CD, do people feel it should be listed in the database?)

I saw this CD in the old Media Play chain in late 2004 or early 2005. I had a stack of CDs in my hand and decided to wait on this one. When I looked for it again sometime after that, it was gone. When I looked on amazon after that, it only came up available through third-party sellers. It was definitely released commercially, and it was definitely pulled from release shortly thereafter. I always thought the story was that Jennifer herself had it pulled because she owns the rights to some of her songs, and there were track or tracks on the disc that were released without her permission. I could be wrong about that part, but I definitely saw the CD in Media Play. I don't think the one I saw was an import either.

Well, the album made its way to the digital world at some point on Rhapsody...says a release date of 2004, though I don't know when they made it available. Whole album is $9.99.

Did anyone else see a physical CD in stores? I'm wondering if stores like Tower Records and Best Buy briefly had it, though I never saw it in either. Did anyone see if Amazon.com itself sold it (not 3rd party sellers through amazon)?

According to Jennifer Warnes' Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Warnes), under compilation releases, they write:
"Platinum and Gold Collection - with errors in actual tracks, not Jennifer singing, 2004 (recalled)"
I assume that means Jennifer is not singing on at least one track; however, I now am in possession of the recalled CD and she sings on every track - so I really don't know why this was recalled.

And btw, there's an insert page in the Jennifer Warnes CD that lists all Platinum & Gold releases, including upcoming ones. Under "upcoming", besides Jennnifer Warnes, they list Paul Anka, Diana Ross, & Survivor. But I haven't seen "Platinum & Gold" releases (or even promo/canceled versions) of these. Has anyone seen any of these?
