The version on "Ladies & Gentlemen" runs 5:23, which is seven seconds longer than any other version. Does anyone know if it's an earlier fade in or later fade out (or both)?

The difference is due to the fade points on the applause. Compared to the "Five Live" version, the "Ladies" version applause fades in ~4 seconds earlier and out ~2 seconds later.

With renewed interest in George Michael, here are the details of the second promo CD for "Somebody To Love."

Hollywood Records (PRCD-10323-2)
1. Radio Edit (listed & actual 4:37)
2. Album Version (listed 5:17; actual 5:16)

It took me a while to track this one down, but I finally scored a copy about a year and half ago for $50. The Radio Edit can be created from the Album Version for much cheaper ;)

Since the song has varying lengths of applause at the beginning (depending on the CD you use as your source), first chop off everything before he says "Thank you very much..."

Then remove 6.9 seconds from the beginning, starting exactly at "Thank you very much..." and going through the end of his spoken intro.

Do a 1.0 second fade in on the intro.

With what you have left, delete 4:03 to 4:16 (approx. 13 seconds) on the last drum hit before the word "love." (This will actually be in the middle of the word "toooooooooo.")

Also delete 3:07 to 3:20 (approx. 13 seconds), making the edit before the word "me" in both places.

Finally, fade your file to 4:37.
