Buried in another thread is a brief discussion of the song "Peace Will Come" by Melanie as found on the cd "Beautiful People: The Greatest Hits Of Melanie" where David Clark points out that I currently list the song as being in stereo on that cd while he thinks it is mono. Here was my reply:
I just listened to "Peace Will Come" by Melanie and it does sound mono on my headphones but when I look at an oscilloscope trace it looks like very poor stereo separation. Could someone that has the software, widen this song to see if it really has stereo separation?
I received no feedback on this topic so I thought I would start a new thread to see if that would generate additional feedback.

Hi Pat,
well, I loaded the song into Cool Edit, and widening really does nothing. It is ever so slighly "e", which may account for your oscilloscope finding.
so, recommend mono!

i just compared my commercial 45 issued as buddah 186 which
lists a run time on the label as 4:47 and version on the cd
'the best of melanie' issued as rhino 70991 and they are
the same, except the cd version fades out to the 3:19 mark
while the vinyl 45 runs to 4:47....so the dj edit, which is
identified as the version on my cd, is just an early fade
of the full length cd/lp version....does anyone know if the
import cd 'candles in the rain/leftover wine' issued on the
edsel(uk) label contains the full length version of 'peace
will come (according to plan)'?

Yes, Ed, I own the Edsel CD and it has the full-length "Peace Will Come" in TRUE STEREO.
It sounds terrific. It's a great song.
