!!!!!!!!!!! These new releases are among the few releases i've been anticipating in recent years.... there's a 3 cd set coming out of the UK next week that contains Paul Jones' (of Manfred Mann) UK hit, High Time, which has long been a favorite of mine, and will be nice to get on cd off a master tape...and until i read the Beatles news, was the only cd in recent months that i was actually willing to shell out money for...looking forward to all of the new Beatles releases....looks like i've got a few months to save up some money for them!!

Tracklisting for the mono box is out. No 45 mixes of "Please Please Me" or "Ask Me Why" on the mono "Past Masters" disc, damn it:

That list isn't quite accurate: look at Please Please Me (opening track "A Taste of Honey"????) and Past Masters (nothing between the German songs and "Day Tripper"???).

Yes, but I still doubt it's going to be on there.

There's been talk in the last week about the mono box set already being "soldout worldwide." Has anyone pre-ordered?

I was reading something posted on the Steve Hoffman message board about a recent EMI official press release stating that while the mono box set is going to be a limited edition release, there is no indication at this time as to how many sets are going to be pressed. (I wish I could find the press release posting, but trying to locate a post within the enormity of the Hoffman message boards is like trying to find a needle in a haystack!) It appears EMI/Apple is waiting to see how many pre-orders come in before making a final judgment as to how many mono sets will be manufactured and sold. The one problem with that theory though is Amazon currently doesn't appear to be taking any pre-orders.

Someone had posted it would be limited to 10,000 copies, but no one seems to be able to find out if that was from an official source. Someone on the Steve Hoffman board was in contact with a representative from EMI UK who told him that 10,000 was not a correct number.
Amazon WAS taking pre-orders. I know people who pre-ordred it. As I did, originally, then canceled when it could be got for about $40 cheaper on Barnes & Noble.

It's still available for pre-order on Barnes & Noble, and at the cheapest price.

Less than 60 days after it's initial release there is no shortage of the Mono Box sets at retail. I just left Best Buy where they had eight sets (listed for $250). It's the less expensive Stereo Box that was nowhere to be found. Soon we can just pick up the USB with all the stereo on it (coming Dec. 8th).

This may be old news to everyone by now, but I thought I would share
anyway. Both the stereo and mono box sets have been heavily
counterfeited. I held out on buying the mono box set until just last week.
My set showed up today, and it was one of the many fake box sets.
There are lots of ways to spot the fake ones, but the most obvious one
from simply looking at an online photo is the line on the bottom back of
the outer box on the mono set that says "Apple Cors Ltd" (instead of
"Corps").
The sad thing is that there seems to be just as many fakes as there are
real ones, so beware when purchasing one if you had been thinking
about picking one up.

There's a pretty informative amateur video on YouTube detailing many of the differences between a real and fake copy of the Beatles mono box set:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFKq10agsJI - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFKq10agsJI
The price can also be a dead giveaway... A genuine mono box set retails close to $200. If you see a deeply discounted copy selling for around $120 or less, you're probably looking at a fake.
