Has anyone successfully replicated the 45 fade?

Well, I've got the mono 45 version on an import. Forgot which one now. I think it's a 2-disc Australian import.

Brian:
I had inadvertently brought back the Doors thread when looking for the answer on Jose Feliciano.
You probably have the Doors 45 version, which I have too.

Yes, but I have the mono 45 version of the Jose Feliciano, too.

The 45 runs just a hair faster than the track from Nipper's Greatest Hits - The '60s Volume 1.
To replicate the 45, fade the track beginning at 2:52.593 and out at 3:01.881.
Compress the speed by 99.362 percent. The final length is approximately 3:00.721.
BTW, on the original RCA Victor 45, just under the Nipper "His Master's Voice" logo is the name of the song's publisher, Nipper Music. How appropriate!

What a great family we have here, always helping each other! Thank you, John! This will assist others who have the 3:34 length, too!

RCA/LEGACY's 2007 collection Light My Fire - The Best of Jose Felciano contains the best sounding version on CD I have come across. Not as hissy as the first edition of Nipper's Greatest Hits and not as riddled with noise gates, too-bright EQ and weird stereo reverb as the 1999 edition.
The vocal distortion in the right channel is unavoidable as it appears to be baked into the master tape. Superb mastering by Mark Wilder at Sony studios. Seek it out.
AUDIO NERD EDIT: The RCA/LEGACY disc also still contains an azimuth issue on "Light My Fire" that makes the left and right channels off-sync by a sample or two but this can easilly be corrected with good audio editing software... When doing an OOPS test and inverting one channel, you need to make the left channel louder or the right channel quieter in order for the lead vocal to vanish with only reverb from the vocal remaining.

I do concur that the Best of sounds as great as you say. Thanks for suggesting it.
