I have this song on dj 45, which has a 3:05 short version on one side and a 4:15 long version on the other side. Can anyone with the commercial 45 tell me which version is on it?

My copy and the other commercial copies I've ever seen have all been the 4:15 version.

I'm presently looking to pick up Lindisfarne's "Run for Home" on CD. I notice the song has most recently been issued on a CD titled Anthology on the Rennaissance label. Unfortunately, Rennaissance has a dubious history of mastering much of their CD catalog from vinyl sources. So my question for the good folks out there who might have "Run for Home" on any CD... Can anyone confirm for certain that their CD was mastered from a tape source?

I don't have the Rennaissance CD, but I do have an import Lindisfarne CD, "Back and Fourth", and "Run For Home" is from master tape on it.

Todd:

I have the song on Meet Me On The Corner: The Collection that sounds beautiful, probably from tape master.

I must say, though, almost all my purchases are digital downloads these days, and have been for awhile.

While I happen to have my promo 45 pulled for this song, I just thought I'd add the very minor "actual" timings to Gordon's listed promo 45 timings mentioned above (my listed timings are exactly the same). The "short version" actually runs (3:04), while the "long version" actually runs (4:17). Since the three current database CDs that include this song all run between (4:17) and (4:19), I thought those extra couple of added "long version" seconds may be of interest to some.

I have the LP "Back And Forth"(ATCO SD 38-108) and the commercial 45 "Run For Home" (ATCO 7093).
The commercial 45 running time is (4:17), the listed time is (4:15). The LP running time is (4:19), the listed time is (4:18).
I have compared two. As the result, the commercial 45 fades out earlier than the LP track. Both the running speeds are about the same. The 45 starts to fade out around (4:02), The LP starts to fade out around (4:06).

This song wasn't on AT40 very long, but I don't ever recall hearing the dj version on the show or on the radio. As I recall, it was a choppy edit - I'm glad they used the "full" version for the 45 ... or has been pointed out by abagon and Jim, the 45 is 4:17 while the LP simply runs a couple seconds longer, so I guess some of the CDs used the 45 master while others used the LP master.

Can the short version be created using the commercial 45/LP version? And if so, does anyone have any info on edit points etc?

Thanks in advance.

All sorted. Thanks to the person who sent me a dub of the promo 45 to use as a reference.
