Pat, the database currently mentions that the stated time for this, on the 45 record label, is (3:10). However, my commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (2:44) and an actual time of (2:47). My deadwax info is "M1PS - 1292", "STEREO", and "K-429", in that order.

There is at least a 2nd 45rpm pressing of this out there where the label doesn't specify whether the record is mono or stereo.

I had both at one point but ended up keeping only the one with the label stating stereo, with a square box around the word stereo (i found a copy on ebay that looks just like it, as well as one that says stereo with no box around it). I see one on ebay with no mono/stereo mention on the label that is a Canadian pressing, but both of the copies i once had were US pressings.

From what I can remember, they also had different matrix writing in the trail out, i believe the stereo version says stereo in the trail out while the other version either didn't mention anything extra or said mono. Without having that copy anymore I can't confirm anything.

More and more i keep wishing i had kept all of my 45s from when i was younger, which was a lot more recently than most people on this board.

Live in stereo.

Is there a CD in the db where the song starts at full
volume and doesn't fade in? I found a 45 being played on
YouTube that starts at full volume. I also found a vinyl
dub on Amazon that starts at full volume.

If you're talking about WABCRADIO77's video of the "Joy" 45, the lack of a fade-in is just because of the heavy audio compression he used on his videos. That keeps the output level relatively constant, but you can hear the surface noise gradually reduce as the audio on the record fades in.

Actually, the video I was referring to on YouTube is here:

There is still somewhat of a fade-in but not as much as
those on CD.

The copy of "Joy" that is on the radio disc "New Gold on CD with Dick Bartley" (the 2/26/1990 show) also doesn't fade in nearly as much as other copies of the song -- instead of going from complete silence to loud, it goes from medium to loud. There's some hiss and clicks at the very beginning, so it's definitely a needle-drop of vinyl.

And it starts at the beginning of the Bach riff, while if you turn up the volume to hear it, the copy that's on "Have a Nice Decade" starts becoming audible somewhere in the middle of the riff.

But the pitch sounds the same as on "Have a Nice Decade", so either Dick's turntable was running fast, or maybe the "slightly faster than the 45 or LP" notation in the database isn't actually correct?
