My commercial 45, which is mono, has a listed time of (3:04), but an actual time of (2:53).

There is one entry for the mono version of Groove Me:
Rhino Hand Made 7739 Atlantic Soul (1959-1975) (Box Set) (slower than the 45)
How much slower is it? Is it fixable? Does it sound like a fold-down mix or true mono mix?

Groove Me was a dedicated mono mix. The Stereo mix had some issues with phasing on AM and FM mono stations when folded down.

Do you know if "Baby Let Me Kiss You" is a dedicated mono mix also?

Indy500: Not sure if you were looking to recreate "Baby Let
Me Kiss You" in stereo, but Pat had once posted:
"The LP and 45 differ substantially and the 45 cannot be
recreated by editing the LP so this really deserves a 45
version vs LP version designation which I have entered in
the database."

Baby Let Me Kiss You is also dedicated mono on the 45 single.

since the 45 ends at 2:53, are the longer stereo versions in the database
essentially an LP length?

the mono 45 has reverb while the stereo folddown does
not....is that what is meant by phasing?

Phasing means when you fold-down a stereo copy and it sounds swishy or
the high end gets muddy. The two channels, therefore, are not perfectly in
phase with each other.

Asking this again... I own this CD and didn't realise Groove Me was too slow until I read
this thread. Can anyone tell me what % I need to speed it up to match the 45, please?

Revisiting "Groove Me" from the Atlantic Soul 1959-1975, instead of the db entry saying it's slower than the 45, I think it should be faster than the 45 as it runs about 2 seconds faster.

If it's of any help for comparison, here is a correct-speed 45 transfer of "Groove Me." https://youtu.be/g_WDWMCgOTo" rel="nofollow - https://youtu.be/g_WDWMCgOTo

Hi Bob!
Your transfer is what I used as a gauge to slow down the Atlantic 1959-1975 file :)

Updated! Please note that these types of mastering comments will now appear just below the CD release on the Title Details page rather than being classified as a "song version."

To get the proper 45 speed, slow down the Atlantic Soul (1959-1975) version by exactly 1.6%.
(I attempted to note this in the database. Let me know if it doesn't show up or I updated the wrong field.)

Perfect, Ron!
I’ve also started to update all the stereo CD entries with an LP version comment. The mono 45 has noticeably more reverb on the lead vocal.

I don't recall if Jim's commercial 45 info for King Floyd's "Groove Me" was previously mentioned in the database among the song's title notes, but it should probably be included, given the significant actual/printed run time discrepancy.

The note about the run time is already in the database.

Ah... Here is a case where I clicked the https://www.top40musiconcd.com/ArtistDetail.asp?ArtistID=1694" rel="nofollow - KING FLOYD hyperlink under the "Artist Name" column, which does not display the 45 timing info via the new "table" format in the title notes. However, when clicking the https://www.top40musiconcd.com/TitleDetail.asp?ArtistID=1694&Year=1971&SongTitle=GROOVE+ME" rel="nofollow - GROOVE ME hyperlink under the "Song Title" column, the table containing the 45 timing info does show up. (I've specifically included the actual hyperlinks here so that members who are logged into the database can click and see the difference between the two for themselves.)
I understand that the limitations of this website's software doesn't allow for the tables to display when clicking by "Artist Name", unfortunately. Therefore, it's probably going to take some time for me, and possibly others, to adjust to this since I have a tendency to sometimes click the "Artist Name" hyperlinks for artists with only one or two Top 40 hits. If any other database subscribers have adopted a similar habit, please be advised that you will need to be sure to click the "Song Title" hyperlinks to obtain the most complete song information. Otherwise, you may not be able to view some key details!

The Title Details page is where you will find the most information for a particular song. I will revisit the Artist Details page later with my programmer, and we can make some modifications to this page at some point in the future.

Just to make sure others are clear about this, the Title Details page that Aaron is referring to is what comes up whenever you click a song title hyperlink (like in the case of https://www.top40musiconcd.com/TitleDetail.asp?ArtistID=1694&Year=1971&SongTitle=GROOVE+ME" rel="nofollow - GROOVE ME ).

Just FYI Todd, although your hyper-link does direct to King Floyd, the text reads Eddie Floyd (that threw me for a second).

I went back and fixed the hyperlink in my post to read "KING FLOYD". Thanks, Paul!
