My commercial 45, which states, and is in fact stereo, has a listed time of (3:40), but an actual time of (3:28). For years, I have been trying to find an original 1970 Janus promo 45 for this, with no luck. A friend of mine, away from this Board, did a "custom edit" for me a while back, allegedly taken from a promo "short version" 45 dub, obtained from a collector buddy of HIS. My friend's "digital recreation" of it runs (2:53). But I have never actually SEEN it myself, and thus cannot 100% confirm its existence. Perhaps Gary Mack, who was actively playin' the Top 40 hits back then, and whom I consider our #1 authority on promo 45s from this era, can possibly shed some light on this one for us.

Thanks for the kind words.
I do not recall ever seeing an edited promo version. At the time, we played the full length single from both promo and stock copies and all versions were the same 3-1/2 minute length.

Reviving an old thread.
Jim,
If your friend who re-created the edit was Bob Radil, the reference copy he used was mine.
I'm wondering if there were 2 promo copies of this song issued...I don't recall hearing nor playing the edit back in the summer of '70, and any unscoped airchecks I have from then contain the 3:30 version.
I came across my copy in the mid-70s at a station I did weekends at...I was playing this song and the edit just jumped out at me. That following week I stopped by my friendly local used record store, picked up a copy of the 45 & next weekend did a "switcheroo".

Nice find, Hykker! Can you confirm the actual run time of your DJ 45 copy?
**Update** Oops, you can disregard my last question... Bill Cahill reports a 2:54 run time in another thread.
