anyone know if the 45 version of the addrisi bros hit "slow dancin' don't turn me on" is on cd........all the cd versions run about 3:12 in length while the 45 runs 3:21, even though the 45 face says the run time is 3:12...........it really runs 3:21.........

the 45 version IS the same as the buddah box set track EXCEPT the cd version fades out 0:09 earlier than the 45......so....the 45 version IS NOT available on cd???

<the 45 face says the run time is 3:12...........it really runs 3:21.>
I know record labels often purposely shorten the time printed on the label (to get more stations to play it), but in this case, I wonder if it was simply a case of dyslexia of the typist. Whatever the case, as a result, the people behind the Buddah box saw a 3:12 run time listed on the 45, and thus shortened the album version to 3:12 for the CD.
This reminds me of what happened on the J. Geils box set with the studio version of "Where Did Our Love Go." The 45 runs 3:00, but the tape source used for the CD was very slow. As a result, the song would have run 3:06 at this speed, but the sound producer must have seen the single time listed as 3:00, and this slow version ends exactly at 3:00, too, and as a result, we're missing the last 6 seconds which has a unique piano ad lib that can't be found anywhere else. I wish Bill Inglot, or someone else involved with that project, would have A-B'd the tape source with the 45 and realized the speed issue and when the 45 actually ended.

hummm. Just got a hold of a 45 of this one, and the actual timing
is not 3:21, but 3:11. I have to check, but it likely is a Canadian
pressing. Perhaps there was a US 45 of that length as well?
ed (or anyone), do you have a dub of a 3:21 45?

Anyone ever confirm if the US 45 actually runs 3:21 or 3:11? Also has the longer version that runs 5:30 ever appeared on an import CD? This longer version was the b-side of the commercial 45.

I have an acquired raw dub of the 45 on my hard drive and
it runs 3:11.

My U.S. commercial 45 states a time of 3:12 and I indeed timed it at 3:12 (give or take a second). The runout matrix is "BDAS 566 A".

ed,
we need you to check your 45, as you seem to be the only one reporting this
longer runtime.

I timed my Buddah BDA 566 45 at 3:22. The version I have
is the one that Discogs lists as a "label variant". The
runout groove info states "masterfonics" on one area,
and "BDAS-566-A 1A" in another.
I also timed the long side to be 5:30. "BDAS-566-B 1A".

In listening to my 45 vs. the Buddah box version, I
think the box version just fades out earlier, whereas my
45 continues on for another 10 seconds or so. After just
a quick listen I don't detect any other differences.

Yes, I remember doing a vinyl transfer of my 45 to a DAT tape years ago. When the Buddah box came out, and it was time to replace the CD version with my 45, I noticed the Buddah/CD version faded 10 seconds earlier than my 45. I recall my 45 being US.
