No on both counts; the original Lp was mono...

This huge 1961 hit, the database shows the only domestic "45 version" is on Hard To Find Jukebox Classics 1960-65: 29 More Amazing Stereo Hits in Stereo.
All other versions on CD in Mono run way too short. Did this hit ever make any CD in Mono at its correct 2:29 running time? Can the Stereo be folded down to the Mono or is the Mono a unique mix? ------------- Favorite two expressions to live by on this board: "You can't download vinyl" and "Not everything is available on CD." |

There are some database CDs that have a mono version running about 7 to 10 seconds longer than the 45. Assuming it's the same mono mix as the 45, it could be faded to match. Several of the discs with the longer version are on Collectables. I'll have to see if I have one of them.

Oh, and it looks like I've already done that. I have this:
