Not a Top 40 hit, but released in the UK in 1973 and 1979, and everywhere else (including the U.S.) in 1979 from what I can gather.
There appears to be a 5:00 original album version, a 4:51 version (which appears on all 45s that I can tell) and a shorter 4:17 version that appears on Maximum As and Bs.
The 4:51 version appears to be the LP and 45 version in 1979. There may have been some editing/re-recording to cut 10 seconds from the LP version.
But, what is the history behind the shorter 4:17 version? Was this a promo 45 edit, because all 45s I see on 45cat and Discogs have a 4:51 listed time. Or, was this a special edit specifically created for this greatest hits collection?

I only know of the 4:51 version that is the [45 and LP version] that matches the 45 dub. Otherwise the 4:17 appears to be just another non-hit version John.
