I can’t believe there isn’t already a thread for this song. I thought it'd be good to document the three versions of this song:
LP and single version - runs 3:47. This is the version on the 5150 album, the original singles, the various compilations - and on almost all CDs featuring the song. Except:
Extended Remix - runs 5:00. Released on the https://www.discogs.com/release/522194-Van-Halen-Why-Cant-This-Be-Love-E-X-T-E-N-D-E-D-Mix-Get-Up" rel="nofollow - European 12" single , this extended version is actually not a remix at all. They simply repeated a section of audio after the second chorus to extend the song by a little over a minute. It was later released on the https://www.discogs.com/release/1413900-Van-Halen-Top-Of-The-World" rel="nofollow - European Top Of The World CD-Single in 1991.
I thought those were the only two versions of the song - until recently. I bought a copy of the https://www.discogs.com/release/9234040-Van-Halen-Why-Cant-This-Be-Love-Extended-Mix-Get-Up" rel="nofollow - UK 12" single , and according to Discogs it contains the LP version mis-labeled as an ‘Extended Mix’. But Discogs is wrong. It's a different extended version, also created by repeating audio - but this time just 10 seconds of it:
UK Extended Mix - runs 3:56. They extended the song by repeating the audio from 2:24.720 - 2:35.500. I uploaded my copy of this version to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_fXSSwBMQ0" rel="nofollow - Youtube .

There's an in-house edit from TM Century that cuts off the 10-second intro and starts with the synths. It's on TM Studios Goldwav track no. 00009319, and was also used on swaitek's The A List Disc 35 (1994).
