I have come across a difference in the stereo and mono versions of this track.
They are very similar, but I notice the difference right away during the opening
"Well...." - they are not sung the same. Another difference is at about 0:21,
there is a "yeah" after "1,000 girls" that is in the stereo but not the mono. I
didn't go in any further...
Anyone know the song's history? The database does not specify a difference.
Might we have another (stereo) LP/45 difference (and database update).

David the parent LP for this song was the Best Of vinyl LP
and I do not have a mono or stereo copy of that vinyl LP
which is what we need to get to the bottom of this. If
anyone with a copy of either one of these LP's please chime
in.

Pat, I see it listed on 1965 LP "Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs On Tour".
Wouldn't that be it's parent LP?

I have also found a YouTube video that purports to be the "On Tour" vinyl LP
playing.

It is indeed a vinyl source, so unless someone comes forward with more
news, I think we should consider this to be yet another 45 vs. LP issue as
the LP version is a different vocal take.

But is this LP mono or stereo/ You seem to indicate it is
stereo but there was undoubtedly a mono issue of this LP as
well so I need to find out what version was on the mono
issue.

Yes, according to BSN "On Tour" was issued in both stereo and mono -
normal for the time. It would be great to learn what was on the mono issue, but
I bet it's the mono 45. So, then we would have a "stereo LP version", not just
"LP version" as I'd indicated.
But of course until we can listen, we'll not know for sure. At any rate, there is
indeed an unresolved issue with this song.

I have finally obtained a mono vinyl LP of "On Tour" and
surprising at it may seem the song is indeed in mono but it
does include the "yeah" at :21 so for some reason MGM used
a stereo version and bridged it to mono for the mono LP. I
don't know exactly what terminology to use so I guess it
should read "stereo and mono LP version" for all stereo cd
entries. The mono 45 version has yet to appear on a mono
LP.

Thanks for clearing this one up, Pat. That is surprising indeed - it just goes to
show, it takes one of us to listen to these original issues to get to the bottom
of our always-coming-up anomalies!

I think "LP version" works for the description. There's usually not a "mono" or "stereo" description added unless there's a difference beteen the two. Fold-downs typically haven't been treated as a separate "version" but rather noted by the (M).
Am I missing something else in this case?
