My good friend Jim from Connecticut informs me that both sides of his DJ 45 copy of Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" are in stereo and identical in every way, including the "1-2...1-2-3-4" countoff intro. The actual run time of both sides of his promo 45 is 2:31, not 2:39 as stated on the record label. Currently, the song's CD appearances in the database have run times widely ranging from 2:23 to 2:37. That said, does anyone have a commercial 45 copy who can pass along the song's run time? Also, it probably wouldn't hurt to check and report the song's vinyl LP run time on the parent motion picture soundtrack Honeysuckle Rose from 1980 on Columbia if anyone has that record album.

I have the commercial copy of this song, but I don't have the soundtrack LP.
The commercial copy (Columbia 1-11351) is the same as the promo copy.
(The actual running time is (2:31), the listed time is"2:39" on the record label)

Thank you for confirming your commercial 45 run time, abagon!

Now all we need to find out is the soundtrack LP run time. This info would be especially helpful given that, according to the database, "On the Road Again" runs 2:25 on the original CD pressing of the Honeysuckle Rose soundtrack (Columbia 36752), yet clocks in at 2:37 on the remastered CD edition (Columbia/Legacy 89259).

At last, I obtained the sound track LP "Honeysuckle Rose" (Columbia S2 36752 / The listed time 2:23)

"On the Road Again" on the vinyl LP tracks into the next selection with applause.
The database indicates (2:25) for the CD "Honeysuckle Rose". I feel that Willie's "Alright Thank You" saying at 2:27 on the 45/LP contains the next selection.

Pat, the database still haven't updated.
Doesn't this song on the CD "Honeysuckle Rose" track into the next selection?

Abagon, on the first issue of "Honeysuckle Rose" (which is a live album) the track "On The Road Again" is track 1 and the timing index for track 1 ends at (2:25) which does not include the "alright thank you" that you refer to because for some reason that phrase is included in negative indexing to track 2. On the remastered issue of the "Honeysuckle Rose" cd they removed the negative indexing and the track runs (2:37) and therefore does include the phrase "alright thank you". Since all live albums have the audience applause segue from one track to another I do not bother to denote "LP version" or "tracks into the next selection" because it should be understood that this is the case for all live albums.

Thank you for the easy-to-understand answer, Pat. I just had a firm understanding of "live album rules" in your database.

All these years as a database subscriber, and I never actually knew this. While I agree it's understood that a live album will usually always segue from one track to another, it's not always clear which albums are live albums. For instance, not having a huge knowledge of Willie Nelson's catalog, I would have never known that "Honeysuckle Rose" is a completely live album. Also, there are certainly cases where an album contains a mix of live and studio tracks. Should you ever decide to update some of those database entries, it would be valuable to know when songs track into the next selection, especially for albums that don't explicitly say "live" in the title.
