Aaron recently pointed out that the long 5:35 version of Addrisi Brothers' "Slow Dancin' Don't Turn Me On" was on a German various artist CD. I bought it and luckily, it's from master tape. This made me wonder if anyone might know of any of the following songs/versions available on import CD (especially from master tape). All are top 100 hits:

* Irene Cara - Out Here On My Own (B-side with Full Orchestra mix)
* Austin Roberts - Rocky (this was a hit in the UK and other countries, and it would seem they wouldn't have to rely on US master tapes to use for CD). All domestic/import versions I know are from vinyl
* Cyndi Grecco - Making Our Dreams Come True (not from vinyl)
* Did You Boogie - Flash Cadillac w/o Wolfman Jack (stereo version)
* Stallion - Old Fashioned Boy
* Gallery - Big City Miss Ruthann, Nice to Be With You, I Believe in Music (any of these not from vinyl)
* Stonebolt - I Will Still Love You (orig version; not from vinyl)
* Get Wet - Just So Lonely (not from vinyl)
* John Travolta - any of his top 40 hits (not from vinyl)

#41-#100:
* Richard Cocciante - When Love Has Gone Away
* Wildfire - Here Comes Summer
* Samantha Sang - You Keep Me Dancin' (besides the one CD of her album that sounds like clean vinyl)
* David Castle - Ten to Eight
* Kool & the Gang - Special Way (single mix)
* Sam Neely - I Fought the Law
* Arkade - Sing Out the Love (In My Heart) - sadly this was likely lost in the Universal Studios fire
* Stompers - Never Tell an Angel (When Your Heart's On Fire)
* Danny White - Dance Little Lady Dance

Great requests, but I don't have any of those from a tape source in my library. I have a good number of big-label compilations from Europe and Australia, but none with these tracks.

I didn't know there were multiple versions of the Stonebolt song.
There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

Re: "Special Way (Single Mix)" - Kool & The Gang

Is the remixed version that appears on the TM Century CD
not the correct single mix and sourced from tape?

It's the single mix, but sourced from vinyl, albeit quite well done, but still not from master tape.

There have been 2 appearances on CD:

* a vinyl transfer used on a Varese Sarabande compilation
* a re-recording on a Stonebolt compilation of all re-recordings. One of the better re-recordings by an act - but still not the original recording.
