I have a commercial CD maxi single of the Bingoboys featuring Princessa's "How to Dance" (Atlantic 86083-2) featuring the following track lineup and actual run times:
1) EXTENDED RADIO VERSION - 4:37 2) AMBIENT NY MIX - 5:54 3) TRIAL CLUB MIX - 6:19 4) AMBIENT NY UNDERGROUND - 6:31 5) DMC MIX - 5:57 The version I'm concerned with is the Extended Radio Version, which is the same mix as the 3:46 cassette single and LP version but has some extended parts. (The other mixes on this disc are drastically different from the hit version.) Should this Extended Radio Version be treated as a separate single version? After all, it does come from a commercial maxi-CD single release. |

There must have been a shorter vinyl 45 promotional copy with the 3:46 version that appears on the commercial 45 - does anyone have this dj copy to verify?

While we're on the subject of Bingoboys... On the 90s Now Volume 5 CD (K-Tel 4051), "How to Dance" is missing the :05 spoken epilogue where the wooden-voiced narrator comes on at the very end of the song and says, "Well, that's it. Good luck. And keep on dancing". This is why the song only runs 3:41 on that disc and not 3:46 like the complete 45 and LP version.

Does anyone have the cassette single that can report back as to the running time? Also was there a commercial or dj vinyl 45 issued for this song in the U.S. and if so what is the running time?

my commercial cassingle issued as atlantic 87756 states the
version on the cardboard sleeve as well as the cassette's face as the 'radio version' with no stated run time but runs 3:46....i believe the cassingle version is the same as the lp version....but i'm not 100% sure.... Edited by edtop40 |

I had forgotten about this song....
A real hoot for me is the narration instruction is sampled from a K-tel album called "Let's Disco!" ... we had this album in the house back then, but i don't know why, no one was learning to dance. But i thought it was a riot, and i recognized the guy right away. youtube has an old commercial for the album, sounds like the same guy in the commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miPnAldlWXg |

Mark, that is a great find! I didn't realize where that narration came from. That is hilarious. I always loved the Bingoboys record just for the narration alone. When I watched the commercial, I think I actually remembered that album when it was being sold. :)
